This is not a problem with the movement itself, but it is something I have not really seen addressed – how do you convince a corporate leadership that it can effectively plan for the future without having “exact” estimates?

This is not an idle question, either. Especially for contractors and consultants, we are often forced not just into providing estimates, but into what is functionally waterfall methodology because clients want estimates. Especially with new teams/engagements you have to have a whole lot of buy-in from executives to use highly agile methodologies (even if they like the buzzword “agile” they normally actually implement waterfall). As contractors/consultants (and even leaders of new teams, or on new projects) we need a way to convince executive leadership that true scrum/agile (including NoEstimates) is worth the start-up effort.

Thanks for this!!! I had been a developer for about 8 years here in Colombia and all companies I had worked just use waterfall or even a Scrum-waterfall project (very annoying).
